Thank you for your interest in Black Fox!
Important: Please only submit to one category per submission period, unless you are submitting blog posts, artwork, work to a BF contest, or applying for a feedback program.
We are closed to general free submissions and will open free submissions again on January 1, 2025. Paid services/categories, blog posts, contests, and art will remain open during our closed periods. We will consider those specified submissions for the current issue. In the event that an issue becomes full, we will roll accepted pieces to the following issue. If you find that you are not able to submit for free during our open period, that means we have reached our submission limit for the month.

Announcing Black Fox Writing Academy’s January workshop!
Every writer dreams of achieving their goals—whether it’s finishing a novel, starting a blog, revising a short story, or simply starting a routine to write more consistently. However, without a clear plan and the tools to stay on track, those goals can feel out of reach.
In Goals, Routines, and Mindset for Writers, you’ll learn how to set meaningful, achievable writing goals and build the systems needed to stick to them. This class focuses on practical tools, including time management techniques, habit-building strategies, and an exploration of how to set the right goals for yourself. You’ll also gain insights into overcoming common obstacles—like getting stuck and losing motivation—so you can stay focused and make consistent progress.
Learn how to create a clear roadmap for your writing journey and have the confidence to follow it. Whether you're aiming to complete a project, establish a daily writing habit, or take your craft to the next level, this class will equip you with everything you need to succeed.
Set your goals, stick to them, and watch your writing thrive. Join us and take the first step toward the writer you want to be.
This class will be taught via Zoom and attendees may decide to attend live or register to receive the recorded class.

Black Fox Literary Magazine is on the hunt for a few good readers! Readers can expect to spend 4-5 hours per week on submissions. More specifically, we assign 10 submissions per week to prose readers and 15 submissions per week to poetry readers. Our reading team positions are voluntary at this time. Black Fox readers are sometimes invited to select classes through the Black Fox Writing Academy or our sister company, Writer’s Atelier.
Black Fox readers are responsible for reading submissions in their entirety, analyzing them from a craft standpoint, and assessing if they’re a good fit for Black Fox. We place much trust in our readers, as they essentially make recommendations to our editors for publication.
A few notes: Readers from historically marginalized communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Please also note that readers cannot have submissions under consideration while reading for Black Fox. If you have a submission under consideration, please withdraw it or wait until a later date to apply.
Potential readers should fill out our application and attach a resume/CV, cover letter, and a writing sample, preferably in the same category you wish to read. We will close applications once positions have been filled.
Thank you so much for considering Black Fox as a magazine worthy of your time. We can’t wait to hear from you!
